Making the Grade

We love the diversity of clients we serve. From photographing a muslim swim suit line to museum artifacts, greenery and restaurants.

In the last few weeks, this diversity has included several opportunities to help promote community efforts.

First it was helping the Citizens Campaign for the Environment in Long Island (New York) come up with an engaging way to report its findings on the progress of recycling efforts from the communities in the region.
Working with the CCE team, we developed a "report card" theme that also provided a way to highlight the creative ways each community has promoted recycling efforts in the region -- which not only gives a nod to the communities individual efforts, but fosters a sense of healthy competition among the communities...a competition that’s a win not just for the community, but for the global environment.

The latest effort traveled from the shores of Long Island to the shores of inland Texas at White Rock Lake for a bowwowtiful day in Dallas. The event was a Team in Training 2nd annual Paws for a Cause dog walk to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. MacKarma Images, along with effe Photography documented pets and their “parents” on a gorgeous Sunday as they literally made strides to help beat Leukemia & Lymphoma. It’s a great cause....and great way to get the “paws” involved. Rumor has it they may repeat the event in other locations...that could set some more tails wagging. Proceeds for the sales go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

And, here on the shores of the Trinity in Fort Worth, we have begun work on celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the Oakhurst community, one of the historic neighborhoods in Fort Worth, “where everything grows”...and one that we tend to favor since it is also our backyard, so to speak.

As our name indicates, MacKarma’s philoshophy is to do more than just make a living...but also make a positive impact. So, it gives us great joy to work on community efforts such as these.

The truth, however, is that we can all impact our communities every day...not just financially, but in varying ways of giving. You could say it’s karma...you could say it’s each of us making our own personal grade.

Next week we’ll be off to the Ozarks for the first time. If we get a chance to get e-connected, we’ll try and send a report. Otherwise, watch for an update when we get back.

Christmas in August

It may be hard to think mistletoe and Christmas bows while temperatures are still hovering in the triple digits for many of us, but you know what happens every year...

Weather cools down and before you can turn around it’s almost Thanksgiving and once it’s time to cut into the turkey, Christmas season is in full swing and you start the jingle dance.
